As your child prepares to head home, this is your opportunity to speak with our friendly educators about your child’s day and everything they learnt. From choosing and visiting a service, through to enrolling, orientation and anticipating the important first day, these all form the path to your child commencing at kindergarten. Our kindergarten’s philosophy guides our teaching and approach to early learning.
Our kindergarten programs are tailored to meet your child’s individual learning needs across numeracy, literacy, emotional and social development, resilience, and self-regulation. We offer an inclusive and creative kinder program, led by educators who are focused on nurturing your child’s strengths, interests and social connections. Council conducted a thorough review of kindergarten services over several years which included consultation with staff and the community. “This will set a benchmark for the quality of kindergarten available in Knox. This was identified by a representative community panel as an important lever for Council to ensure the ongoing quality of services in Knox. Knox City Council will stop running standalone kindergarten services and will make its buildings available to other sessional kindergarten providers from January 2025.

Uniting offers exceptional kindergarten programs across Victoria, focusing on early childhood development, inclusivity, and community involvement. In our program, missing a day typically does not impact the 15 hours of funded kinder provided by the government. However, if your child is enrolled for care beyond the funded kinder session, you may still be charged for the additional hours at the standard daily rate. A kindergarten program is run during long day care for 3-year-old and 4-year-old children enrolled in our long day care program. Our kindergarten has early childhood qualified and registered teachers. The teachers are dedicated to, and passionate about, early childhood education.
We respect their Elders, both past and present, and recognise the emerging voices that will lead us forward. We acknowledge their everlasting connection to the land, waters, and skies. Your child is advancing from infancy toward and into the preschool years. During this time, his physical growth and motor development will slow. We promote sustainability through practices like maintaining a vegetable garden, worm farm, and composting, as well as using recycle bins to encourage eco-friendly habits among the children. Groups and session times may need to change based on the registrations we receive. If your preference is to attend a kindergarten not listed above you will need to contact them directly. It is expected a final decision will be made in mid-2023, incorporating the panel’s input and the details of our comprehensive service review.
