In reality there are no wine from the Domaine which is harvested on more than 1 ha of Vineyard, and therefore the quantities of all wines are quite limited. The prices are largely outside of the control of JFC, his ex-cellar prices are not so high – at least if there was some wine left to sell! – but the middlemen continue to make hay while the sun shines.
But is single vineyard village wines a good idea, or just another ... On the palate the wines has very fine textures and freshness that comes from both the soil and the fine acidity structure. There is a pronounced Coche style, but this does not prevent the individual vineyards terroir to shine through. They are terroir wines but have a quite distinctive style that characterizes all the wines from the domaine.

His wines are something special, and he almost have the same status as Henri Jayer, who was quite unique in Vosne Romanee. I have onlye seen Les Luchet in the 1992 vintage , and Les Tetes Cassese, is only seen in the 1986 vintage, so both may be out of the picture now. This season was marked by an optimal balance of warm days and cool nights, a perfect scenario for nurturing the Chardonnay grapes to  their fullest potential. The resulting wine exhibits a rich palette of flavors, from ripe citrus to toasted hazelnuts, all underpinned by a vibrant minerality that is a signature of the region. Most of those are bottled without vineyard/plot information, but two of them, Chevalier and Rougeots, are sold with with the vineyard mentioned on the label. So in reality we are 5 to 6 versions of his generic village Meursault that one may encounter when tasting / buying wine in different countries. On the palate, this Meursault is a testament to subtlety – showcasing a vibrant acidity countering lush fruit, culminating in an impressive finish that lingers like the last notes of a nocturne.

Now under the stewardship of Raphaël Coche, the legacy continues with wines that embody precision, complexity, and unparalleled elegance. The 2017 Auxey-Duresses is a terrific bottle in the making, unwinding in the glass with a deep bouquet of dark wild berries, woodsmoke, incense and rich soil tones.
